Startup Roadmap

  • Boulder Small Business Development Center

I'm teaming up with Ian Netherton, Eight One Partners, to put on the Startup Roadmap workshop for the Boulder Small Business Development Center, a non-profit that I used to work for. Here's the blurb:

Plan the successful launch or growth of your business with the Startup Roadmap workshop. Instructors will use the Business Model Canvas to identify key challenges you’ll need to address as your business grows. Attendees can expect to:

• Begin a draft of their Business Model Canvas
• Understand how it serves as a foundation for a business plan
• Draft basic financial projections and understand cash-flow vs. income
• Be provided a list of resources to dig deeper

Startup Roadmap is a three-hour, hands-on workshop with a focus on making key business concepts clear, accessible and actionable.

This workshop is designed for a broad audience, not just technology companies. If you're interested in attending you'll need to register on the Boulder SBDC site.

Doggie Dash

  • Boulder Reservoir

I've been volunteering with the Humane Society of Boulder Valley to get more startups involved in supporting their organization. Built in Colorado was kind enough to write "How this Boulder startup is taking "dog-friendly" to the next level" to shed some light on what we're up to.

Join us for a fun-filled celebration of our community and the pets in our lives, featuring a 2-mile stroll and fun run at the Boulder Reservoir. Whether you’re dashing with your favorite four-legged friend, a team of two-legged friends, or just enjoying our Pet Expo & beer garden, you can help us raise critical funds to support the animals at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley!

#GiveFirst Hackfest

I'll be mentoring on Saturday and Sunday morning for teams that form during the #GiveFirst Hackfest. Here's more about the event:

This Thanksgiving, let's give first! The GiveFirst Hackfest will team up the best tech and design talent in Boulder with nonprofits to make a positive impact on our world.

Here’s how it works. Nonprofits will pitch the technology they need to bolster their mission. Teams will form around the different projects, and the hacking will begin. Over the course of two days, the teams will be challenged to build fully functional MVPs of a product and present them back to the nonprofits and the community.

The impact is real, the tech is real.   Join us at the crossroads of innovation and purpose.

Landlocked Happy Hour

I've been heading to Jax Fish House Boulder for happy hour with a few friends lately, so I thought I'd try opening it up to the startup community as a whole. If it draws a crowd we can make it a regular thing. So come join us, especially if you're new to town.

It's informal - no agenda, speakers, or registration. We'll hang out to chat, enjoy some oysters on the half shell, and maybe even have a drink or two. Just because we live in a landlocked state doesn't mean we have to starve ourselves of seafood.

Let's try it out 7/2, 7/16, and 7/30 (all Wednesdays) at 4:30pm to see if it should become a regularly held event!

Denver AutoTech Meetup

  • Thrive Workplace Solutions

Longtime community guy Jon Rossi, now CEO of MyDealerService, has organized a meetup for those interested in automotive related software. As it turns out there's a lot going on in automotive software in Colorado - I'm looking forward to getting this new meetup off the ground with a bang!

Note: I just found out that my travel plans conflict with this time slot so I'll have to wait until the next one!
